Hello my name is Patrick Ortiz, but I am better known as Pato. I was born and raised in Reno, NV, but I traveled a lot as a child. I spent many holidays and summers in Mexico City, Chicago, and various cities in California. My entire family was always very pro photo; as in, we took pictures everywhere, and of everything. I absorbed this trend very quickly and took their cameras every chance I got. They would go through the processed film and always say "I don't remember taking this, Pato did you take this photo?" It still cracks me up today. During middle school my mom and dad bought the family an Olympus digital camera that was about the size of a brick, and shot pictures that were a whole 1.3 megapixels; my life changed. I took that camera every chance I got and shot everything, us skating, food, family, friends, you name it. I took a few photo classes in high school and community college, but I wasn't intrigued by the teaching styles. I purchased my very first digital camera, a Canon Rebel XS. I was set, I taught myself everything I could by reading books, blogs, watching videos, and just messing around. I started a flickr account and people started commenting that the work I was shooting was pretty good. At that point I new that this is what I wanted to do. I started to shoot family portraits, fashion photos, anything I could. I am still growing as a photographer today and will continue to shoot everyday of my life.
